The Super Yacht Deck Crew Course is for those entering The Superyacht Industry. It is a very competitive game to get into. Thousands of young adults are attracted by the sunshine, high salaries and global travel of this glamorous industry. If a career in the super-yacht industry appeals to you, there is no question that you need to have the basic training in safety, seamanship and boat handling on your CV before anyone will even consider you . Some of this training is legally required to work at sea; some is expected by the industry. IS THERE A CHOICE OF DIFFERENT SUPERYACHT DECK CREW COURSES?
Yes, The Super-Yacht Deck Crew “Intro” Programme gives you the minimum certificate required to be employed on a super yacht as deck crew and to drive the yacht’s tenders. The Super Yacht Deck Crew “Module 1″ includes everything in the “Intro” programme and gives you additional training and qualifications to make you far more employable than the average “green” crew, who you will be up against.

WHAT ARE THE PRE REQUISITES TO THE SUPERYACHT DECK CREW COURSE?
- Minimum age 17 (however you will need to be 18+ to be able to apply for work in the Super-yacht industry)
- ENG1 Medical (from an MCA Doctor)
WHAT IS COVERED ON THE SUPER YACHT DECK CREW COURSE?
The Fast-Track Superyacht deck crew full programme is a comprehensive package which focuses on four separate areas. These include:
Powerboating & PWC (Personal Water Craft)
All superyachts carry one or more tenders on board. These are generally small powerboats ranging from 4-12m. Crew are expected to drive guests, make shore runs, provide safety cover and tow water-skiers and inflatables with these craft. The two day RYA Powerboat Level Two Course is taught within this programme and both trains and licences you as a driver. It is then followed up with the RYA Powerboat Tender Operator Course, specifically aimed at superyacht crew to enable them to carry out passenger transfers. Many superyachts carry a small flotilla of jet skis on board. More and more countries now expect drivers to be certified to drive these craft. Included in your programme therefore is a day of Jet Ski (PWC) training and the RYA licence.
Seamanship & Navigation
Training both ashore and afloat will introduce you to many of the skills required by efficient deckhands, including rope work, sail handling, assisting a navigational watch, basic maintenance, assisting with mooring and anchoring. The training we provide is generic so will allow you step into many a role on board a motor or sailing yacht. The RYA Day Skipper Shorebased certificate will evidence your new knowledge. The RYA Diesel day gives you the basics to ensure you can help with ongoing trouble shooting, maintenance and servicing.
Marine Safety Training
The STCW Basic Safety Courses are mandatory qualifications to hold when working onboard all super yachts. These five courses are sometimes known as STCW Basic Safety Week. They cover Fire Fighting, Health and Safety at Sea, Personal Survival Techniques, Proficiency in Security Awareness and Elementary First Aid. We also provide your VHF radio licence so you can communicate between the tender and mother ship and the CIEH Level 2 Food Safety at Sea certificate for when you are involved with the serving (or preparation) of food.
