Our flotilla of powerboats, motorboats, PWC, sailing dinghies, catamarans, keelboats, windsurf board, canoes, kayaks and paddle boards were each purchased specifically for training. These craft are not charter boats that are used as training boats on their “days off,” they are specced specifically for their relevant RYA courses. The Chieftain fleet are all berthed at SWAC (Southampton Water Activate Centre) and our private boat yard, Mariners Wharf.

HUMBER 35 (Motor Cruiser)
Strong, capable, and reassuringly solid, our Humber 35 is a vessel built with serious seaworthiness in mind. Drawing on one of the most respected British offshore hull forms, (the Nelson 34), she delivers a smooth, predictable ride and exceptional stability, even when conditions are less than ideal.
Her semi-displacement design offers the best of both worlds: comfortable, efficient cruising combined with the ability to make purposeful progress when required. Twin 185 hp turbocharged diesel engines provide a relaxed cruising speed of around 12 knots, with ample power in reserve to increase speed when circumstances demand it.
The enclosed wheelhouse gives excellent visibility and protection from the elements, creating a calm, controlled environment for both skipper and crew. Recent upgrades mean the vessel is equipped with modern electronic navigation systems, including an Axiom chartplotter, radar and AIS, seamlessly integrated to support safe and confident passage-making.
Handling in close quarters is further enhanced by a bow thruster, allowing precise manoeuvring in marinas, alongside pontoons, and during training exercises.
The boat is commercially coded and operated well within her limits, ensuring generous space onboard and a relaxed experience for everyone. Whether used for training, passage work, or time afloat with purpose, the Humber 35 offers confidence, comfort, and capability in equal measure.
