Health & Safety Policy Statement

At Chieftain Training, we recognise our responsibility in eliminating unnecessary risk and hazards in the course of running our organisation. Our primary aim is to provide mandatory safety training courses for seafarers, and we promote a safe working and training environment at all times.

We ensure that all staff, students and visitors to our premises are as far as is practicable, safe while with us.

We aim to achieve compliance with all local and national legislation through excellent occupational health and safety performance.

Chieftain Training provides adequate resources to implement this policy and its supporting policies.

Chieftain Training has established and maintains a safe and healthy working environment. Risk assessments are recorded and reviewed on a regular basis. The risk assessments cover:

  • General risk assessments of all the premises, pool and equipment.
  • Activity based risk assessments, on all training activities.
Manual handling assessments on all lifting and handling associated tasks.
  • Fire risk assessments.
  • Individual risk assessments for any staff member or student who needs adaptions making to enable them to carry out the course or their employment or course

These risk assessments ensure that significant risks arising from our work activities under our control are eliminated or adequately controlled.

Chieftain Training develops and implements appropriate occupational health and safety procedures, and safe working protocols. We believe health and safety is a responsibility for all staff (freelance and employed).

This policy is available to all of our employees and freelancers.
