Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I take this course if I have never paddled a canoe before?
You should have baseline personal paddling skills in at least one of the crafts listed before attending. The course focuses heavily on how to teach and rescue, rather than teaching you how to paddle from scratch.
Is the British Canoeing registration fee included in the SWAC course price?
No. The administrative registration fee must be paid directly to British Canoeing when you log your intent to train on their dashboard.
What happens if the weather is bad?
SWAC monitors local conditions constantly. Our sheltered water access allows us to run courses safely in most weather conditions. If severe gales prevent safe operations, we will reschedule your dates immediately.
