Teacher & Lecturer Open Day

School Teachers & College Lecturers Open Day at SWAC

See it. Try it. Bring it back to your school.

Looking for something genuinely different for your pupils?

Join us at Southampton Water Activities Centre (SWAC) for a free School Teacher & College Lecturer Open Day and discover how easy it is to get your students out on the water.

We’re inviting headteachers, principals, PE staff, EVCs, school decision-makers, teachers & lecturers to come and see SWAC in action. Once you’ve seen it, you’ll want your students here.

Two chances to attend

We know how busy schools and colleges are, so we’re offering two flexible options, both informal, relaxed, and easy to attend.

After-school evening session
Drop in after the school day at 1630-1930, stay for as long or as little as you want.

Saturday morning session
Perfect if you can’t make weekdays! Again uptown 3 hours

What makes this worth your time?

ASHORE

  • Explore the SWAC site and facilities
  • Meet the instructors who will work with your students
  • See exactly how a school visit runs
  • Ask the questions that matter to you

AFLOAT

  • Get afloat yourself (optional… but highly recommended)
  • Those who prefer can remain ashore and speak directly with our Principal and Development Manager.

Why teachers & lecturers will love the open day

Let’s be honest — you’re far more likely to book something you’ve experienced yourself.

  • Understand how sessions can fit into your school day, term or year
  • Feel confident in the safety and delivery
  • Enjoy something a bit different yourself

And if you do get on the water… you’ll understand exactly why students love it.

Why headteachers & principals should send staff

Sending a member of staff gives you a clear, first-hand view of what we offer. One visit answers everything:

  • Is it safe?
  • Is it well run?
  • Is it worth the time and budget?

Who should attend?

  • Headteachers, college principals & senior leaders
  • PE & Uniformed Services staff
  • Educational visits coordinators (EVCs)
  • Heads of outdoor pursuits and sailing
  • Any teachers with responsibility for outdoor learning or extra-curricular activities
  • Enrichment & pastoral leads

Your next school trip starts here

If you’re looking to:

  • Expand enrichment
  • Increase outdoor learning
  • Offer something memorable and different

This is the easiest first step. Most schools who attend go on to book a visit shortly afterwards.
