STCW PSCRB COURSE AIM
The STCW PSCRB (Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats) course is for seafarers who will be responsible for survival craft or rescue boats (other than fast rescue boats) in emergency situations.
M Notice M 1865 states, “If you are required to launch and take charge of survival craft, you will need to prove you are proficient in survival craft and rescue boat operations.”
STCW PSCRB COURSE DURATION:
The STCW PSCRB Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats course is five Days, (usually Monday to Friday)
STCW PSCRB PRE REQUISITES:
- Minimum age 18 years
- STCW Personal Survival Techniques or RYA Basic Sea Survival or Royal Navy Sea Survival
- Evidence of 6 months sea service. If however you have not yet logged 6 months sea service you may still take the course but the your certificate will be withheld until you have the necessary sea time.
COURSE CONDITIONS:
Training and certification is provided by an external MCA Approved Training Provider using their own accreditation.
STCW PSCRB COURSE CONTENT:
This course includes classroom and practical sessions. You will practice handling inflatable life rafts, outboard driven rescue boats and davit launched life boats. below are the MNTB learning objectives:
- Identify the dangers associated with the use of off-load and on-load release devices
- Demonstrate the correct operation of off-load and on-load release devices, including the correct resetting of both types of release devices
- Identify and explain the correct operation of Fall Prevention/Secondary Safety Devices or their equivalent
Safely operate a survival craft engine - Safely take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch
- Safely manage survivors and survival craft or rescue boat after abandoning ship
- Rig and use locating devices including communication and signalling apparatus and pyrotechnics
- Apply first aid to survivors
- Describe the management of injured persons
