WHERE IS THE YACHT MAINTENANCE COURSE RUN?

The yacht maintenance training course is run from our training workshop at Chieftain Training, Southampton.

YACHT MAINTENANCE COURSE AIMS:

This intensive week is aimed at owners, skippers and crew who want to take on maintenance of their vessel. It is particularly relevant for long distance, offshore and rally cruisers who will have to become self reliant on passage. Maintenance Week includes;

  • Pre departure, service work and routine preventative maintenance on board your yacht
  • Fault finding for machinery and electrical problems
  • “Get you home,” repairs that will allow you to complete your voyage and continue sailing safely
  • Recommended spares and tools to carry on board

YACHT MAINTENANCE COURSE DURATION:

The intensive course is run over a 6-day week, generally starting on a Monday.

YACHT MAINTENANCE COURSE PRE REQUISITES:

This course is aimed at existing boaters. However no previous mechanical ability is required. Apart from the sail repair sections the course is equally useful for sailors and motorboaters.

The yacht maintenance course is a mix off theory and practical however there is far more hands on practical than lecture. You will make use of our training workshop which is equipped with a wide range of engines, 12 Volt equipment, rope work tools, winches, damaged sails and extensive tool kits.
