WHAT IS THE AIM OF THE POWERBOAT ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR COURSE?

To train existing RYA Powerboat Instructors in the techniques needed to enable them to deliver the higher level courses. Successful candidates become qualified to:

HOW LONG IS THE POWERBOAT ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR COURSE?

2 days including 1 evening

DAY 1 HOURS

  • Day 1 Start Time- 0915
  • Day 1 Finish Time- approx 4 hours after dusk (2030 in December, much later in June)

DAY 2 HOURS

  • Winter – 0915 to 1600
  • Summer – A shorter day, as we will have covered more of the syllabus the preceding day

WHAT PRE REQUISITES ARE THERE FOR THE RYA POWERBOAT ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR COURSE?

WHAT IS COVERED ON THE RYA POWERBOAT ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR COURSE?

During the two days we will discuss the different techniques used to deliver the RYA Tender OperaterRYA Intermediate and RYA Advanced courses. In particular we will focus on the night exercise and on coaching methods for drivers who have existing skills.

WHAT RATIO IS USED ON THE RYA POWERBOAT ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR COURSE?

Two or three candidates to one trainer & boat. The RYA will not sanction 1:1 Powerboat Advanced Instructor Training.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE POWERBOAT ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR COURSE?

  • 2 days and a night of instruction
  • Use of our RIBs
  • Fuel
  • Loan of a life jacket and light
  • Free (on street) parking
  • Tea & Coffee

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED IN THE POWERBOAT ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR COURSE?

  • Wet weather gear (£5 hire per day)
  • Lunch
