Employee Benefits

This is a summary only. The personal employment contract, the staff handbook and the rules of a relevant scheme take precedence.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT / STAFF TRAINING

The company is committed to personal development. Specific training should be agreed with the Principal and should be of benefit to both the company and the employee.

CHIEFTAIN TRAINING COURSES

Subject to availability, full-time employees may enrol on Chieftain Training Courses free of charge. Part time employees will receive generous discounts.

FAMILY DISCOUNT

Family of all staff can purchase courses for themselves at discounted prices. (Family are defined as your grandparent, parent, spouse, common law partner, offspring, grandchild or sibling).

“CASH & CARRY” SHOPPING

Having completed their probationary period, staff are eligible for a “Costco Card” which they can use for discount shopping. (Costco make an annual charge to the card holder for each extra card on our account). Staff can also purchase goods and clothing from our trade accounts at cost price. This concession is only open to staff buying items for themselves or their immediate family and may be subject to a minimum order size.

CHILDCARE VOUCHERS

Chieftain Training operates a Childcare Voucher scheme. This is a ‘salary sacrifice’ scheme whereby the employee receives an amount of their salary in the form of childcare. This effectively makes part of their salary become non-taxable and exempt from National Insurance. The vouchers can be at used at most forms of childcare including nurseries, child-minders, nannies, before and after school clubs, holiday clubs, crèches and most play schemes. If an employee is already paying or about to pay for childcare, this scheme will save them just over £75 a month.

CYCLE TO WORK SCHEME

Chieftain Training offers a “Cycle to Work” scheme for tax-free hire of bikes and bike safety equipment. This saves staff 32% of the cost of a new bicycle and accessories. Bikes can be purchased from any retailer in the UK up to a value of £1,000.

BONUS ANNUAL LEAVE

After five years continuous full-time employment with Chieftain Training, staff will have earned an extra two days annual leave. After ten years continuous service, staff will have earned a further three days (totaling five additional days) annual leave. Further bonus annual leave is at the discretion of the Director(s).

PENSION

In addition to the company pension plan, staff can voluntarily top up their pension from salary, thereby reducing their NI contribution and income tax.

EXTRA MATERNITY AND PATERNITY LEAVE

Following two years continuous employment with Chieftain Training any staff member who is eligible for Statutory Maternity or Paternity Leave will receive from the company an additional week of leave on full pay (to be taken within 12 months of the babies’ birth and assuming they return to work for at least 12 months following maternity or paternity leave).
