Double Trouble – 5 Day School Holiday Course (Ages 10 – 15)

Now you have learnt sail through the RYA stage 1, 2, 3 courses and hopefully have some more club sailing experence,  it’s time to think about how to sail more efficiently. Before we advance to spinnakers and performance techniques we need to focus on the singe most important factor in sailing- team work. This week we will coach you how to work as a team to get better sailing outcomes. This week will be a turning point in your sailing life and many of the skills will be transferred to the other parts of your life.

COURSE FORMAT

Duration: 5 days (Monday–Friday)
Daily timetable: 09:15–16:30
Location: Chieftain Training, Southampton Water Activities Centre (SWAC) 
Instructor ratio: Small groups with qualified instructors, maximum of 6 children to 1 instructor
Progression: Skills build each day with clear goals and plenty of water time

We sail in safe conditions matched to the group’s ability. If weather isn’t suitable, we’ll run shoreside sessions (knots, rigging, rules, weather, and fun theory) and get on the water as soon as it’s appropriate.

PRE REQUISITES:

  • Aged 8-15
  • Develop Sailing Week or RYA Stage 3 Sailing Certificate
  • Water confident (i.e. can swim 25m in clothing)

COURSE CONTENT:

The week’s focus is on team work onboard crewed dinghies, making us of the RS Feva, Quest, Vision and Venture

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED:

  • Wetsuit (available for £5 a day to hire from us)
