AIMS:

This First Aid course is designed for those professional yachtsmen, super yacht crew and seafarers who are required to comply with the STCW code of practice. In the super yacht industry this certificate is required by all crew. In the smaller yacht industry skippers operating up to 60 miles from a safe haven can operate with this certificate. Skippers operating further offshore require the more advanced 4-day MCA / STCW Medical First Aid course, which is aimed at sailors and motor boaters who are venturing offshore.  Essentially, if you were at sea and a member of your crew became seriously ill, somebody on board should have sufficient skills to perform adequate first aid until professional help can be reached.
