STCW BASIC SAFETY WEEK OVERVIEW:
STCW Basic Safety Training (BST) is globally recognised and is required in order to work on superyachts, workboats and other commercial vessels over 200 tonnes. Some workboats and foreign flagged vessels under this size also insist on BST. Deck crew and interior staff must (by law) have attended the following five basic safety courses:
- STCW Elementary First Aid (EFA)
- STCW Personal Survival Techniques (PST)
- STCW Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (FPFF)
- STCW Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities (PSSR)
- STCW Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA)
Bundled together these five short courses are known as STCW Basic Safety Week or Basic Safety Training (BST) and are run regularly in Southampton, Solent.

STCW BASIC SAFETY WEEK COURSE DURATION:
This is a 5.5 day course.
PRE REQUISITES:
Minimum age 16
BASIC SAFETY WEEK COURSE CONDITIONS:
This course is run across two Solent venues. 4 modules (First Aid, Safety, Security and Survival) take place at our company headquarters in Hamble. The Fire Fighting training takes place off site at Hythe near Southampton. Fire Fighting training is provided by an external MCA Approved Training Provider.

STCW BASIC SAFETY WEEK OPTIONAL EXTRAS
While you are with us there is the option to dual certify and add any (and all) of the following certificates, without having to devote any more time.
- RYA First Aid
- HSE Emergency First Aid at Work
- RYA Sea Survival
If you would like to add some or all of the above you can do so at the point of booking. Dual certification starts at £40.
