Chieftain Training Set Sail for Hamble

CHIEFTAIN TRAINING SET SAIL FOR HAMBLE

Going against the tide of the current economic situation, Chieftain Training is expanding, with a move of its shorebased training centre to Hamble. The Chieftain team are packing up the classrooms and moving the entire centre to much larger and better premises.

Chieftain Training’s Principal, Doug Innes, explains: “Our customers have told us they want easier access, better parking, more toilets and the ability to take a nice walk at lunch time, so we have listened, and we have secured a new 15-year lease in Hamble, a minute’s walk from the beach.”

With an ever-expanding range of courses Chieftain Training had to up-size!

Doug adds “we are currently refurbing our new classrooms for Survival, First Aid and Deck Officer preparation, a designated GMDSS & Digital Nav suite and two fully equipped marine engineering training rooms. The site has much more to offer our customers, including sea views, a café on site and more modern facilities. We hope that, with all this on offer, our customers will enjoy coming to visit us soon! Once the move is complete we will be embarking on some exciting new courses but more of that later…”

Chieftain Lifeboat Offer

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL UK LIFEBOAT STATIONS & THEIR CREW

Merry Christmas to all UK Lifeboat Stations and their crew. Thank you for everything you do.

Chieftain Training is pleased to pledge its continued support to the UK’s independent lifeboat stations. In 2023 and 2024 we offered free First Aid training to three local independent lifeboat stations. For 2025 we smashed that, and opened the offer up nationally. For 2026 the offer still stands.

Eligible volunteer lifeboat crew from any independent lifeboat station in Great Britain and Northern Ireland are welcome to join one of our STCW Elementary First Aid Courses at our Hamble training centre FREE OF CHARGE.

CHIEFTAIN’S LIFEBOAT OFFER

The offer is open to any current lifeboat crew who has served at a declared lifeboat station for at least 6 weeks and who either does not hold a valid First Aid Certificate or their current one is due to expire with the next 6 months. Bookings must be placed by the station’s training manager and are subject to availability.

Chieftain Training’s Principal, Doug Innes, comments. “If I lived close enough to a lifeboat station I would volunteer as a crew member, so this is my way of trying to help. We have a huge respect for all you heroes who give your time and risk your lives to help us seafarers. All of our courses are discounted for lifeboat crew, and we are making the STCW Elementary First Aid Course free again for 2026 for any volunteer crew that need it.”

All bookings should be made through the station’s Training Manager. The Training Manager of each UK Independent Lifeboat Station is invited to contact us at info@chieftain.training and register their station with us. There are at least three places available per course and there is a course almost every week. We will add extra course dates if necessary.
Our one-day STCW Elementary First Aid Course is approved by the MCA for use across all their codes of practice. It is also recognised by the RYA for RYA Instructors and commercial endorsements.
