Adult Dinghy Sailing Joining Instructions

Thank you for choosing Chieftain Training  for your sailing course training, we are looking forward to your course and we will do everything we can to make it memorable, interesting, fun and educational. Please take a few minutes to read the pre course information below. These Joining Instructions cover;

All RYA Dinghy Sailing Courses for Adults

WHERE

Dinghy Sailing  courses are run from; Southampton Water Activities Centre (SWAC) and NOT at our other training centre/HQ in Hamble.

WHEN

Day time courses run 0915 to 1645 usually over 2 or 5 consecutive days
Evening Courses run 1800 to 2100, usually once a week over 5 weeks

WHAT TO BRING

  • Packed lunch
  • Change of clothes and a towel
  • Cap, hat, gloves, sunglasses, suncream depening on season and weather
  • Wetsuit (or hire our wetsuit and spray top for £5/day
  • Wetsuit boots or footwear that can get wet
  • RYA Logbook (if you have one)
  • Combination padlock for the lockers

PRE COURSE PREPERATION

Level 1 – None

Other levels– Refresh the theory content from your previous course

CERTIFICATION

Certification for most courses is issued at the discretion of your Instructor and the Principal. The certificate is usually issued at the end of the course before you leave. All of our courses requite 100% attendance.

MEALS

Tea and coffee is included. Meals are not. Please bring a packed lunch each day.

SAFETY

For dinghy sailing courses, all adults are provided with a 50N Buoyancy Aid.  If you would prefer to wear your own then you may do so.  

UNDER 18s

Adult sailing courses course are suitable for anyone sixteen years old or above. In some case we may a family member who is slightly younger. Parents or guardians of students aged under eighteen must fill in and sign a medical declaration / consent form for their child prior to the course starting. This is usually done on the first morning.
