Youth Develop Sailing Week – 5 Day School Holiday Course (Ages 8 – 15)
COURSE FORMAT
Duration: 5 days (Monday–Friday)
Daily timetable: 09:15–16:30
Location: Chieftain Training, Southampton Water Activities Centre (SWAC)
Instructor ratio: Small groups with qualified instructors, maximum of 6 children to 1 instructor
Progression: Skills build each day with clear goals and plenty of water time
We sail in safe conditions matched to the group’s ability. If weather isn’t suitable, we’ll run shoreside sessions (knots, rigging, rules, weather, and fun theory) and get on the water as soon as it’s appropriate.
PRE REQUISITES:
- Aged 8-15
- Improve Sailing Week or RYA Stage 2 Sailing Certificate
- Water confident (i.e. can swim 25m in clothing)
COURSE CONTENT:
Develop all areas of sailing skills
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
- 5 days of instruction
- Use of our boats
- Loan of a buoyancy aid
- RYA Youth Sailing Stage 3 Certificate
- Free parking at our centre
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED:
- Wetsuit (available for £5 a day to hire from us)
- Footwear/wetsuit boots
- Lunch
