MOTORBOAT TRAINING SKILLS & DRILLS

If you already have a Motorboat certificate and would like to improve your boat handling and/or navigation techniques; our Skills & Drills course will give you the means to practice whatever you feel you need to develop!  Join two, four or five days of refresher training to improve, perfect and progress your skills. This course is very popular with Day Skippers and Coastal Skippers on route to Yachtmaster.

 

COURSE DURATION

We offer the Skills & Drills option over two, four or five days

  • 2-day courses run 0915-1800 on day 1 and 0915 to 1600 on day 2
  • 4-day courses run 0915 -1800  on 2 days with a later finish for a night exercise on one of the first three evenings and an earlier 1600 finish on the final day.
  • 5-day courses run from 0915-1800 two days with a later finish for a night exercise on two of the first four evenings and an earlier 1600 finish on the final day.

PRE REQUISITES

COURSE CONTENT

We can re-cover all the motorboats skills, navigation techniques and close quarter handling you would have learnt on the RYA Day Skipper Power or RYA Coastal Skipper Power course. The time can also be used to learn how to drive more efficiently, improve your skippering manner and log some miles.

MOTOR COURSE RATIO & VESSEL

This course is created by us and not subject to any RYA ratio, none the less we self impose a ratio of three students to one Instructor (3:1), or better

How do we do this? We run a sensible sized (8.5m) motor boat which can be operated safely by just 2 crew. If you want to train on a larger, twin engine motor yacht then we are probably the wrong school for you! Be aware, you are unlikely to be guaranteed such a good Student : Instructor ratio elsewhere!
