There are five RYA navigation courses. Four of them follow a simple progression;

- RYA Day Skipper Shorebased Theory
- RYA/MCA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmsater Offshore Shorebased Theory
- RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean Shorebased
