12 Volt Marine Electrics Level 2

12 VOLT MARINE ELECTRICS (LEVEL 2) COURSE OVERVIEW:

New in 2021 is our Level 2 course. It follows on from our 12 Volt Marine Electrics Level 1 Course, and we anticipate most students joining us for both consecutive days of 12-Volt training. This one-day course consolidates day-1 and expands into new areas.

12 VOLT MARINE ELECTRICS (LEVEL 2) COURSE DURATION:

1 day – 09:30 to 16:30

12 VOLT MARINE ELECTRICS (LEVEL 2) COURSE PRE REQUISITES:

  • Chieftain Training 12 Volt Marine Electrics (Level 1) certificate OR
  • Practical understanding of
    • The difference between AC and DC and
    • The DC circuit, switches and fuses and
    • Voltage and Current and
    • How to use a multi meter to test voltage
    • How to effectively crimp and solder 12 Volt connections

12 VOLT MARINE ELECTRICS (LEVEL 2) COURSE CONTENT:

  • The 12 Volt Circuit
    • Resistance and Power
    • Calculating the correct fuse
    • Selecting the correct cable/wire
    • Relays and switches
  • 12 Volt DC Fault finding and troubleshooting
    • Circuit faults
    • Charging faults
    • Engine battery circuit faults
  • 12 Volt Connections
    • Connecting NMEA devices
    • Connecting batteries
    • Following a 12 Volt circuit diagram
  •  12 Volt Batteries
    • Battery types and choice of battery
    • Charging (shore power, alternator, wind and solar)
    • Battery management
  • The Vessel
    • Bonding
    • Galvanic Protection

This one-day course build on the Level 1, 12 Volt Marine Electrics Course and continues on the the themes of trouble shooting and fault finding by giving you more knowledge. This is a very practical day with considerable “hands on” time.

12-VOLT MARINE ELECTRICS COURSE RATIOS:

Due to the Covid 9 pandemic we have limited this course to a maximum of 9 students in a large training workshop. However we will run the course with as few as 3 students.

BOOKING THE 12-VOLT MARINE ELECTRICS COURSES

The Level 1 and Level 2 courses run on consecutive days. If you book both days together the second day is reduced to £80
