12 hr Paediatric First Aid (PFA)

PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID COURSE AIMS:

This full PFA course is aimed school teachers, nannies, child minders and au pairs who are required by Oftsed, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), or SureStart to complete a 12-hour Course in Paediatric First Aid. It is equally valuable for parents or anyone else involved with children and infants. This course incorporates everything covered in the one day Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course and a lot more.

The course looks at treating infants (less than 1 years old) and children (1 yr old to puberty) for First Aid, the resulting certificate is valid for three years.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) rules state that at least one person on site must have passed this qualification in the last three years, however the rules go further to enforce that even during times of staff leave or absence there must be someone qualified on site and that if accompanying children on an outing you must hold this certificate. Clearly early years providers will need to have several staff trained and many providers chose simply to train all staff to this level

Furthermore all newly qualified entrants to the early years workforce who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30 June 2016, must also have either a full PFA (this course) or the 1-day Emergency PFA certificate within three months of starting work.
